In August 2005, ExCEED selected five communities/regions for more focused and intensive engagement efforts. The communities were selected after review of applications from around the state for their focus on entrepreneurship, innovative and cooperative approaches, and diversity of projects. In 2007, applications were requested and six more projects were added.
