The place to go when you need to know

The Benton County Extension Center is available to help you get the information you need. Extension can get you research-based information in the areas of agriculture, business and the workforce, children and teens, community development, environmental quality, family life, home and garden, and nutrition and health. 

Office hours

The Benton County Extension Office is open Monday through Friday. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

 

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is an evidence-based strength training program designed for older adults. The eight-week program includes 16 exercise classes that meet twice weekly for one hour. Location: Boonslick Regional Library in Warsaw Missouri. Time: 2-3 pm  Dates: April 23, 25; May 3, 7, 9, 14, 17, 21, 23, 29, 31; June 4, 6, 11, 25, 27. Missouri Master Naturalist Volunteer Training

Hi Lonesome Chapter: Benton and Pettis Counties and Surrounding Areas

To get involved, adults 18 years and older must:

  1. Attend one of these required orientation sessions: July 5, 6-8 p.m., Missouri Department of Conservation Discovery Room, Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia Missouri or July 12, 6-8 p.m., St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cole Camp Missouri
  2. Register for the training course by August 2; registration fee is $75
  3. Attend training classes on Thursday evenings, 6-9 p.m., September 6 - November 15, at the Missouri Department of Conservation Discovery Room, Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia Missouri, and participate in three Saturday field trips
  4. Upon completion of the training course, participants are required to contribute 40 hours of volunteer service and complete 8 hours of advanced training to become a certified Missouri Master Naturalist
  5. Be an active member of the Hi Lonesome Master Naturalist Chapter

Publications

MU Extension has publications on agriculture, natural resources, lawn and garden, home and consumer life, nutrition and health, families, community and leadership development, business and careers, emergency management and other topics. Prices vary by publication.

Build Your Boardonline training program

This program was designed specifically for board members of nonprofit organizations. Participants can log in at any time and take all 16 lessons at once or can break the training up in 15-minute intervals. No meetings to attend and no travel expenses mean both time and money will be saved. To register go to extension.missouri.edu/buildyourboard
