    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1, SNAP Audience, Rolla, MO (Session 2 of 16)

    Description:

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) aims to provide inactive middle-aged and older adults with access to a safe, structured and effective exercise program capable of building muscle and increasing bone density, thus decreasing frailty, osteoporosis and the risk of falls. SSSH helps participants meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s physical activity recommendations.

    SSSH challenges participants through incremental increases in exercise volume and intensity. Led by a certified instructor, participants complete a warmup, a prescribed set of upper- and lower-body strengthening exercises and a cool-down at each class. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

    A Matter of Balance is designed to help adults overcome the fear of falling and increase their activity levels. All too often, a fear of falling prompts older adults to restrict their activities — and may become a self-fulfilling prophecy. A Matter of Balance can empower them to take steps to reduce their chances of a fall. In this program's eight classes, they’ll work with an instructor and other older adults to:

    Learn about fall prevention strategies
    Develop and follow a personal fall prevention plan
    Learn exercises to improve their balance and increase their activity levels
    Make or support changes in their daily lives that can reduce their fear of falling

    Ag Expo

    Description:

    January 31 and February 1 will mark another installment of the Heartland Agriculture and Natural Resources Expo (Ag Expo), which will be held at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Ag Expo has continued to grow and add new events each year to bring something fresh to the public. This event is in support of and sponsored by the Butler County University of Missouri Extension Council, the Ag Club of Three Rivers College and Greenway Equipment.

    There will be over 100 vendors on display relating to all aspects of agriculture and natural resources in Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas. Ag Expo 2020 will have an admission fee of $2 for adults and will be free for youth. It is open to the public from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 31 and from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 1.

    Exhibitors will display their products and services and answer your questions about horticulture and gardening, livestock and crop production, forestry and forestry products, machinery, equipment, autos and trucks, farm supplies and more.
