    Description:

    The Cole and Miller County Long Term Recovery Committee (CMC-LTRC) has a regular meeting Thursday mornings in Jefferson City at 8 am - 10 am

    We were formed as a coalition of faith based and service based organizations, including United Way, Catholic Charities, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, and other groups. Willard Haley represents Miller County as the co-chairman, Rev. Bill Fogelsong is a co-chair of the faith-based subcommittee. Patricia Barrett is a co-secretary with Lynda Zimmerman, MU Extension, of Cole County. the Committee is reaching out to the city and any groups that might be serving unmet needs to communicate and cooperate together. The purpose of the meeting is to gather service providers and volunteer groups (like the City of Eldon and Miller County Emergency Management) to talk about our shared goals and get more folks from Miller County involved.     CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF PARTICIPANTS-Show-Me Better Health, Jordan Valley Clinic in Lebanon (Session 6 of 6)

    When:  Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

    Description:

    We started with 10 participants, 8 showed up the first class. 4 the second class, and 2 the 3rd class. it was determined for the fidelity of the program that it was best to cancel the remaining 3 classes.

    The University of Missouri Extension is offering the six-week workshop "Show Me Better Health" licensed by Stanford University. This workshop will teach persons with chronic conditions and their caregivers the tools needed to design their own self-management program so they can live a longer and healthier life.

    Workshop participants will learn tips on how to eat well and exercise; how to manage their symptoms; how to relax and handle difficult emotions; develop effective problem-solving skills; how to work well with their doctor; and how to manage their medications. They will receive a copy of the workshop manual, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions and a relaxation cd.

    Jefferson City- Master Pollinator Steward Program (Session 6 of 6)

    Description:

    Pollinators β€” such as bees, birds, butterflies, bats and insects β€” play a crucial role in the production of most fruits and vegetables. They also support healthy ecosystems that clean the air, stabilize soils and support wildlife.
    Studies show that pollinator populations are in decline because of a loss of feeding and nesting habitats, pollution and the misuse of pesticides. Learn how to protect our agricultural economy and food supply with the Master Pollinator Steward program.
    MU Extension specialists and stakeholders in the field developed this unbiased, research-based curriculum, which includes hands-on activities and classroom presentations.

    4-H Officer Training
