    National Farm Machinery Show / Fair Oaks Dairy Bus Tour - Louisville KY

    Description:

    The Webster County University of Missouri Extension is offering a bus tour to Fair Oaks Dairy Adventure (Fair Oaks Indiana) and the National Farm Machinery Show (Louisville KY). The trip agenda is available in the calendar of events. We will leave for Fair Oaks Dairy at 7 am on Tuesday Feb. 11th and return approx. 2 pm on Friday Feb. 14th.
    Cost will be $375 per person (Double occupancy) a $175 deposit is due by Jan. 10th 2020. If the trip does not make the deposit will be refunded. Checks should be made to: Webster County Extension.

    Livestock Production Workshops-SMQA (Session 1 of 9)

    Description:

    The Show Me Quality Assurance Program consists of two parts. The information presented is different in each part. Most counties alternate which part is presented each year; this is why it is required to take it two consecutive years during an in-person training.
    One part covers information on quality assurance, antibiotics, medication labels, residues & withdrawal times, injections, VCPR, and The Six Pillars of Character®.
    The other part (2020) provides information on daily animal care, feed labels, animal identification, chemical, physical and physical hazards, biosecurity, record keeping, and animal handling and transportation.
    A refresher course is required when the 4-H member turns 14. After that is completed, the 4-Her is certified through age 18. The final training can take place online.

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 (Session 11 of 16)

    Description:

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) aims to provide inactive middle-aged and older adults with access to a safe, structured and effective exercise program capable of building muscle and increasing bone density, thus decreasing frailty, osteoporosis and the risk of falls. SSSH helps participants meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s physical activity recommendations.

    SSSH challenges participants through incremental increases in exercise volume and intensity. Led by a certified instructor, participants complete a warmup, a prescribed set of upper- and lower-body strengthening exercises and a cool-down at each class. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

    Helps divorced and separated parents learn how to support their children through the divorce process and how to work together in co-parenting their children.  Focus on Kids satisfies the Missouri law that requires parents who are divorcing or filing a motion to modify the original divorce decree, or who have never been married but have filed a child custody case, to attend an educational parenting program.


    Session topic:

    Focus on Kids is the Court mandated class for parents involved in custody cases where minor age children are involved.

    Private Pesticide Applicator Training and Ag Updates Cole County (Session 2 of 2)

    Description:

    Initial training and recertification of private pesticide applicators. Trains in methods of safe and proper use of agricultural pesticides on farmland.
    Missouri law requires all purchasers and users of restricted-use pesticides to attend a training session to be certified for a private applicators license. Those obtaining a private applicators license may not accept payment if spraying pesticides for someone else. Due to the new regulations, this training will not qualify you for the use of Dicamba. You must attend one of the statewide training session specific to Dicamba. Missouri law is currently under review and will possibly change in the near future with stricter requirements.
    During this training, participants will learn about safe handling of pesticides, proper mixing, calibration techniques, environmental ramifications of improper mixing or careless application, chemical breakdown of pesticides in the environment, what records are needed, pesticide formulations, personal protective wear and how to clean it, pesticide storage, common MO pests, and integrated pest management (IPM).
    Additional Ag program updates will be provided by assigned specialist in livestock, engineering, economics and agronomy.

    Howell County Private Pesticide Applicator Training

    The training is required for those producing agricultural commodities and wanting to purchase and apply restricted use pesticides on land they own, rent or crop-share. Those needing recertification training to renew their license for another 5 years may also attend. Growers wanting to purchase and apply restricted use pesticides must have a certified private pesticide applicators license issued by the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Successful completion of University of Missouri Extension private applicator training is the requirement for receiving the license. You must also be at least 18 years of age and directly involved in the production of agricultural commodities to apply for a certified private applicator license. There is no charge for the training, but EPA requires that each farm have a copy of their core Pesticide Applicator Manual, which has a charge of $25.

    Calving Clinics (Session 1 of 2)
