    National Farm Machinery Show / Fair Oaks Dairy Bus Tour - Louisville KY

    Description:

    The Webster County University of Missouri Extension is offering a bus tour to Fair Oaks Dairy Adventure (Fair Oaks Indiana) and the National Farm Machinery Show (Louisville KY). The trip agenda is available in the calendar of events. We will leave for Fair Oaks Dairy at 7 am on Tuesday Feb. 11th and return approx. 2 pm on Friday Feb. 14th.
    Cost will be $375 per person (Double occupancy) a $175 deposit is due by Jan. 10th 2020. If the trip does not make the deposit will be refunded. Checks should be made to: Webster County Extension.

    Caldwell Co. Private Pesticide Applicator Training and Ag Update

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1, SNAP Audience, Rolla, MO (Session 6 of 16)

    Description:

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) aims to provide inactive middle-aged and older adults with access to a safe, structured and effective exercise program capable of building muscle and increasing bone density, thus decreasing frailty, osteoporosis and the risk of falls. SSSH helps participants meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s physical activity recommendations.

    SSSH challenges participants through incremental increases in exercise volume and intensity. Led by a certified instructor, participants complete a warmup, a prescribed set of upper- and lower-body strengthening exercises and a cool-down at each class. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

    A Matter of Balance at MU Family Impact Center (Session 4 of 8)

    A Matter of Balance is designed to help adults overcome the fear of falling and increase their activity levels. All too often, a fear of falling prompts older adults to restrict their activities — and may become a self-fulfilling prophecy. A Matter of Balance can empower them to take steps to reduce their chances of a fall. In this program's eight classes, they’ll work with an instructor and other older adults to:

    Learn about fall prevention strategies
    Develop and follow a personal fall prevention plan
    Learn exercises to improve their balance and increase their activity levels
    Make or support changes in their daily lives that can reduce their fear of falling

    Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention is an evidence-based exercise program that combines gentle physical exercise and stretching with mindfulness. The fluid, gentle movements of Tai Chi improve muscular strength, flexibility and fitness as well as relaxation, balance and posture. Classes will be held at Northwest Technical School, 1515 S.
