    Private Pesticide Applicator Training (PPAT) Program at the University of Missouri involves the initial training and recertification of Missouri private pesticide applicators. The need for training in the application of pesticides is of high importance due to both the legal requirements and a real need for technical knowledge.

    Following PPAT program, field specialists in agronomy, livestock, horticulture, agricultural business and agricultural engineering will provide 20 to 30 minute technical updates in their respective subject areas.

Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

    Private Pesticide Applicator Training (Session 2 of 4)

    Description:

    The training is required for those producing agricultural commodities and wanting to purchase and apply restricted use pesticides on land they own, rent or crop-share. Those needing recertification training to renew their license for another 5 years may also attend. Growers wanting to purchase and apply restricted use pesticides must have a certified private pesticide applicators license issued by the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Successful completion of University of Missouri Extension private applicator training is the requirement for receiving the license. You must also be at least 18 years of age and directly involved in the production of agricultural commodities to apply for a certified private applicator license. There is no charge for the training, but EPA requires that each farm have a copy of their core Pesticide Applicator Manual, which has a charge of $12.

    Digital Storytelling work from students in the School of Visual Studies at Mizzou.

    Students will produce and display digital storytelling art at the botanical center during our reception. Some of the art will be one-of-kind creations specific to the event and space.

    Also starting Feb. 7, student digital art will be on exhibit in the lobby of the Springfield Botanical Center throughout the month.

    Community Arts is a three-way partnership between MU Extension, the University of Missouri and Missouri communities to promote and foster community and economic development through the arts.

    Session topic:

    This special reception with students and teachers from Mizzou offers a unique kickoff to a month-long display of art at the Springfield Botanical Center.
