A ten week strength training program designed for middle-aged and older adults. Participation in regular strengthening exercises will help you to build muscle and increase bone density, thereby helping to prevent frailty and osteoporosis. Strength training can benefit you in many ways, arthritis relief, improve balance, enhance flexibility, strengthen bones, weight control, lifts depression, stress reduction, reduce risks for heart disease, and maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

'Hands On' Fruit Care Workshop Series (Session 3 of 4)
When: Friday, April 11, 2014, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Join us for 1, 2 or all 3 workshops in this series. Each is 2 or 2.5 hours long & held in central Columbia. Fruit tree pruning (don't fall out of the tree!)- Fri. March 7th- 4-6 PM. Berries and organic fruit gardening- Fri. Mar. 21st at 4-6:30 PM (it's the 2nd day of spring!). Disease and insect pest control of fruit planting- (yikes!) Fri. April 11th 4-6 PM. Additional Bonus Class! A Mid Summer Fruit Review - Friday, June 6th at 4 pm (let's eat some strawberries, yum).
Fungicide, insecticide and bactericide products will be reviewed. Sprayer models will be demonstrated and discussed. Emphasis will be on fruit trees and grapes. Organic pesticides will not be addressed, as they will be reviewed in the berry session.
