    Introduction to Quick Books for Farms and Agribusinesses in Maryville (Session 2 of 4)

    Good business records can be an important source of information when analyzing your business. Learning to develop good records can help you keep your business on the right track. In addition, good records will make filing income and sales taxes and other government reports easier.
    University of Missouri Extension will be offering QuickBooks training, in a series of four classes. This class will help you set up and use accounting principles and computer technology as an effective tool in your home or business environment.
    This hands-on workshop will be held as part of Northwest Technical School’s Adult and Community Education Courses in Maryville. All enrolled will work independently at their own computer station. For purposes of instruction, sample programs of QuickBooks will be provided for your use. This will enable everyone to work on the same sample data sets. Randa Doty, MU Extension agriculture business specialist, has been teaching individuals how to use QuickBooks in their fam or small businesses for nine years. She will ensure that you get the most out of these classes. Topics covered will include setup, budgeting, cash and accrual basis, report generation, and payroll. You are not required to purchase computer software to participate in this class.
    It is strongly recommended that all participants already have basic computer operation skills. You are the most important asset your business possesses. Invest in yourself and the future of your business by enrolling in this course today. Registration fee is only $50.     Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) aims to provide inactive middle-aged and older adults with access to a safe, structured and effective exercise program capable of building muscle and increasing bone density, thus decreasing frailty, osteoporosis and the risk of falls. SSSH helps participants meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s physical activity recommendations.

    SSSH challenges participants through incremental increases in exercise volume and intensity. Led by a certified instructor, participants complete a warmup, a prescribed set of upper- and lower-body strengthening exercises and a cool-down at each class. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

    Master Pollinator Steward Program (Session 3 of 8)

    The Master Pollinator Steward Program is an unbiased, research-based curriculum, which includes hands-on activities and classroom presentations. Pollinators — such as bees, birds, butterflies, bats and insects — play a crucial role in the production of most fruits and vegetables. They also support healthy ecosystems that clean the air, stabilize soils and support wildlife. Studies show that pollinator populations are in decline because of a loss of feeding and nesting habitats, pollution and the misuse of pesticides.     McDonald County Master Gardener Core Class (Session 1 of 10)

    Description:

    The mission of the Missouri Master Gardener Extension Program is “helping others learn to grow.” The Master Gardener program provides in-depth horticultural training to individuals throughout Missouri who then volunteer their time applying what they have learned to help others in their communities to learn about gardening and environmental education.

    The Master Gardener program promotes and raises public awareness of the University of Missouri Extension as a source of unbiased, research-based gardening information. Through activities such as MU Extension hotlines or answer services, workshops, speaker’s bureaus, garden show booths, and demonstration projects, Master Gardeners provide gardening information to thousands of Missourians each year.

    To become trained as a Master Gardener, an individual must attend a 30-hour classroom Core Course training. Then the Master Gardener trainee is required to give 30 hours of volunteer service back to the community in approved MU Extension activities
