Franklin County Fair Queen - pre fair events

The Franklin County Fair Queen Contestis open to Franklin County 4-H and FFA members. The Franklin County 4-H Youth Specialist works with a committee of volunteers to provide an experience for the contestants that allows them to develop or improve the life skills of community service volunteering, marketable skills, self-motivation, self-esteem, stress management, decision making, goal setting, keeping records, communication, cooperation, social skills, and nurturing relationships.
The contest events include a Queen Tea where each contestant is encouraged to invite their mother or another female role model to join them to learn more about the contest and pre-contest events, Fair Queen 101 where the girls learn abuout and practice all parts of the contest including walking, sitting, introductions, and interviewing skills, Day in St. Louis that includes promoting the fair at the NBC station's "window on St. Louis", a pre-fair interview with the judges that also includes voting for Miss Congeniality and practicing for the fair contest.
The contest includes completing a resume, participating in a community service effort, writing an essay, acquiring at least one sponsorship for the contest scholarships, selling season passes, an interview with the judges, and a public presentation on stage during the contest.
Fair Queen 101:
Contestants will practice how to walk on stage, how to interview, how to answer question onstage, the best makeup for the contestant, and more. Contestants will also turn in their resume, essay, and their community service items.
Contestants must pre-register by March 29.
