2014 North American Manure Expo (Springfield, MO)

When:  Tuesday, July 8, 2014, 7:30 a.m. to Wednesday, July 9, 2014, 4 p.m.

The two-day event will feature tours on July 8 to a pasture-based dairy for concrete tank and lagoon agitation demonstrations, and to a wastewater treatment facility featuring anaerobic digestion, nutrient management planning and field mapping.

On July 9, there will be solid and liquid application demonstrations, an equipment and trade show, and educational sessions. Speakers include several MU Extension specialists: agricultural engineer Joe Zulovich, economist Ray Massey, water quality specialist Bob Broz, and nutrient management specialist John Lory.

The 2014 North American Manure Expo will conclude with demonstrations on manure gas and safety, and manure spill response and management.

The expo offers practical demonstrations, classroom teaching, and the opportunity to interact with industry representatives and regulators. The expo is not just for producers; it is for everyone who works with nutrient management.

The expo rotates among states each year, and this is the first year Missouri is hosting the event.

More than half of all marriages end in divorce, and the majority of these involve children. Conflict between parents, both before and after a divorce, is associated with many negative outcomes in children. The purpose of this workshop is to help parents learn how to nurture and support their children during and after their divorce.

Industry Outlook & Risk Management Meeting for Beef Producers

This meeting will cover several very timely topics for beef cattle producers. Is this the right time to expand? And how can we be prepared to mitigate the many challenges and risk involved in beef production? Scott Brown, livestock economist with the University of Missouri, will present, "Is Now the Time to Expand Your Cattle Herd?". Also on the program is Ryan Milhollin, MU ag economist, to talk about mitigating risk with livestock and forage insurance.
