    Private Pesticide Applicator Training in Rolla (Phelps County)

    Description:

    Missouri law requires all purchasers and users of restricted-use pesticides to attend a training session to be certified for a private applicators license. During this training, participants will learn about safe handling of pesticides, proper mixing, calibration techniques, environmental ramifications of improper mixing or careless application, chemical breakdown of pesticides in the environment, what records are needed, pesticide formulations, personal protective wear and how to clean it, pesticide storage, common MO pests, and integrated pest management (IPM).

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1-Conway (Session 6 of 16)

    Description:

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults; access to a safe, structured, and effective strength-training program. Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each class, a prescribed set of eight upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

    All classes will be held at the Conway Senior Center on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30am-10:30am. Registration is required. To register, call the Laclede County Extension office at 417-532-7126.

    STEAM Career Exploration in the Tri-Lakes Region With an abundance of natural resources and an expanding tourism industry, the Missouri tri-lakes region continues to seek a skilled STEAM workforce. The University of Missouri Extension 4-H and the Table Rock Campus of Ozark Technical College have partnered to offer a one day career expo for 7th grade students to learn more about a variety of careers. At each session, a prescribed set of eight to 10 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. In order to enroll in the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy Level 2 program, you must have completed the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Level 1 program at least twice. Participants are made to feel comfortable and are encouraged to gradually build the strength beneficial to health. All equipment is provided.

    Session topic:

    Participants will complete a warm-up, 8-10 strength training exercises, and a cool-down that includes stretching.

    Description:

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults access to a safe, structured, and effective strength-training program. Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each class, a prescribed set of eight upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.
