Osher@Mizzou’s ‘Engaging in Aging’ Workshop and Resource Fair

Free and open to the public!

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Missouri (Osher@Mizzou) invites you to our first-ever Engaging in Aging Workshop and Resource Fair.

This community workshop will help seniors make choices that lead to healthy, meaningful aging in mid-Missouri. We will also offer a Resource Fair to connect you with organizations and businesses that provide services geared to the senior lifestyle.

Time: 1:00 to 3:30 p.m.
What: Speakers, snacks, Resource Fair, fun!
Location: Osher’s Classroom Space at 1905 Hillcrest Drive (directions are below)
How: Attendance is free! Please call Osher@Mizzou at (573) 882-8189 or email Osher@Mizzou.edu to register.
Why: Because you want to make heathy choices as you age.

Educational Workshops (20-minute presentations followed by Q&A sessions):

  • 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.: Choices That Lead to Better Health

    • By Amanda Barnes, personal trainer, health coach, corrective exercise specialist, ortho-exercise specialist, senior fitness specialist from KOMU’s Weekly Wellness segment
  • 1:35 – 2:05 p.m.: Choices to Add Meaning to Your Life

    • By Larry Brown, professional storyteller, ordained minister and locally renowned speaker
  • 2:10 - 2:40 p.m.: Choices to Make a Difference in the Lives of Others

    • By psychologist, Cynthia Claycomb
  • Resource Fair continues until 3:30 p.m.

Osher@Mizzou is a volunteer-driven organization that strives to build a community of lifelong learners who take classes, engage in clubs and attend events – all for the sheer joy of learning. Osher offers more than 75 non-credit classes over four semesters each academic year (Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer) for mid-Missourians who are age 50+.

Directions

Osher classes take place all year at the Moss Building, 1905 Hillcrest Drive, at the Waters-Moss Memorial Wildlife Area. Head south on Old Highway 63 from the intersection of Stadium and Old 63; Hillcrest Drive is the second street on your left – watch for the sign for the Waters-Moss Memorial Wildlife Area. Go up the hill, and the Moss Building is on your left!
